What's Happening

"Communities of Character" Op-Ed column by David Brooks reflects much of what Watershed School does best.  During this week's All-School Meeting, Watershed students and faculty read Brooks' article in small groups and discussed ways in which Watershed already builds community with intention and explored ideas for how to strengthen our community going forward.

Watershed School has expanded its faculty with the creation of a new Dean of Students position and the promotion of Jude Masseur to take on the new role.   Jude Masseur has been teaching History at Watershed since 2009, served as its curriculum coordinator during the 2014-2015 school year, and most recently served as the interim Director of Brown University’s Graduate Program in History Education.  She also teaches a senior seminar at Watershed linked to the Camden Conference...
One of 16,000 students nationwide, Jesse Dunn has earned the status of National Merit Semifinalist for 2015!  Congratulations!  He now has the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring.  
Senior, Emma Faunce begins her second year studying American Sign Language with Leonore Boerner.  Beorner is on the faculty at the University of Southern Maine in the Linguistics Department and also works through the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at the Baxter School.  She has additionally taught ASL in several of the public schools in the Portland area.   At the end of the month Emma will attend an event at the Baxter School for the deaf in...
Jillian Galloway rowed her way to a first place, women's division finish at the annual Megunticook Rowing Regatta this past Sunday, September 13th.  Participants came from far-away places including Vermont, New Hampshire, and Connecticut as well as in-state competitors from Yarmouth and Portland.  The regatta included both a 3-mile and 10-mile race around the lake.  The weather was cool and the water stayed calm throughout for a fantastic race for all!   For more...
